About Diversified Community Technology Center
Diversified Community Tech Center mission
Our mission is to advance digital equity by equipping economically disadvantaged businesses and low‑income individuals with the technology support, training, and resources they need to achieve their objectives, enhance operational effectiveness, and improve community outcomes.
At DFCTC, we:
-
Diversified Community Technology Center is committed to strengthening Minnesota’s small businesses, nonprofits, and emerging IT professionals through accessible, high‑quality technology services and workforce development programs. We exist to ensure that organizations and individuals—especially those who are economically disadvantaged—have the tools, expertise, and support needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world.
-
We maintain and deliver a comprehensive suite of technology products and services designed specifically for the needs of small businesses and nonprofit organizations. From day‑to‑day technical support to long‑term digital strategy, our goal is to help mission‑driven organizations operate more efficiently, securely, and sustainably.
-
To support this mission, we have built a network of experienced technology professionals who provide affordable expertise in strategic technology planning, project management, database development, and application development. Whether an organization is modernizing its systems, launching new digital tools, or navigating complex technology challenges, our experts are equipped to guide the process from start to finish.
-
Through our Managed IT Services, we implement and support complete technology infrastructures—whether cloud‑based, on‑premise, or hybrid. We ensure that organizations have reliable, secure, and scalable systems that allow them to focus on their core mission rather than their technology hurdles.
-
We also help nonprofits maximize their resources by ensuring they receive every available software and product discount. Through strong partnerships with organizations like TechSoup Global and corporations such as Microsoft, we connect nonprofits to essential tools at significantly reduced costs.
-
Beyond organizational support, we invest in the next generation of IT professionals through our ITWorks program, an award‑winning 16‑week training experience that prepares young urban adults for entry‑level careers in information technology. Participants gain hands‑on training, industry‑recognized certifications, and real‑world experience that position them for long‑term career success.
-
As technology continues to transform how nonprofits and small businesses operate, the opportunities for impact are greater than ever. Diversified Community Technology Center is committed to ensuring that every organization and individual we serve can harness these opportunities to strengthen their mission, expand their reach, and create lasting change in their communities.
Our History
Diversified Community Technology Center was established with foundational support from Microsoft, TechSoup, and Dell, whose nonprofit technology initiatives helped launch our mission to expand digital access and opportunity in Minnesota. Their early investment provided the tools, resources, and infrastructure needed to begin serving economically disadvantaged individuals, small businesses, and community organizations.
From the beginning, our organization has been structured exclusively for charitable, educational, and literacy purposes and operates under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This designation reflects our commitment to public service and ensures that our work directly benefits the communities we serve. As a federally recognized nonprofit, we are also able to support and collaborate with other qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations, strengthening the broader ecosystem of community impact.
What began as a technology‑support initiative has grown into a comprehensive community resource—offering digital literacy training, technical support services, and workforce development programs that help individuals and organizations thrive in an increasingly digital world. Our history is rooted in partnership, equity, and a shared belief that access to technology is essential for economic mobility and long‑term community success.
