Meet Alonzo, a Spring 2018 graduate of IT‑Works MN. Before joining the program, Alonzo found himself stuck—after leaving college, he took whatever jobs he could find just to get by. At the time, he was working in a restaurant in South Philadelphia, feeling disconnected from the future he truly wanted.

With a lifelong passion for technology but no clear pathway to turn it into a career, Alonzo learned about IT‑Works through a friend and a former graduate. That moment changed everything.

“It was worth it to be accepted – I was 150% committed. This program rejuvenated me and got me excited about life and my future. I know I have more to look forward to than just working in a kitchen, and that is a big deal.”

During the program, Alonzo gained hands‑on technical experience and built the confidence he had been missing. His internship at PNC Bank became a turning point—his strong performance earned him an extension even after completing the program.

Today, Alonzo is thriving as a full‑time Field Service Technician I at Tower Health, building a stable, meaningful career in the technology field he always dreamed of entering.

His journey is a powerful reminder of what happens when talent meets opportunity—and how programs like IT‑Works open doors that change lives, families, and futures.
